Just like an Airplane, I “Carry On”!

This video likely won’t win me any awards or make me famous…

But it makes me feel free.

It reminds me that no matter what is thrown your way, no matter what people think of you, no matter who leaves you or who you decide to kick out of your spaceship – you have to carry on and live your life… with love and enthusiasm!

So I went on a couple adventures and my friend/filmmaker Braeden Riehl helped me document it. After a spontaneous solo trip to New York to visit a good friend and go exploring, Braeden and I took off to Vancouver, British Columbia and back through the Okanagan. We let our energy guide us on a free-spirited adventure with only a few goals in mind. One being playing the show I had booked in Vancity at the Hindenburg, another being jumping off shit into some water, and lastly, getting as much of it on film as necessary (and somehow squeezing enough of it into some sort of cohesive and relevant Music Video).

I hope you enjoy it. I hope it inspires you. I hope you make time to love yourself and the world you live in. I hope it makes you smile.

“Carry On” Video Release – Friday, November 3rd

Stoked to release this new Video! As silly of a song it can sound like, it actually holds great meaning for me. One has to brush off the bullshit, remove the negativity and carry on. I did that this summer by doing a little travelling here and there. I went to New York to visit my good friend and take a bite out of the Big Apple, and I played a show in Vancouver and took the long way back, shooting parts of the music video along the way! So fun!

BRAND NEW COVER VIDEO!

You know those songs that you hear that just somehow resonate immediately? This Kesha song was almost a “Rainbow” in itself, realizing that throughout some of the darkness that I’ve experienced this year, there has been lots of bright, shining colours in my life. My friends and my family have all been there for each other during times of pain and sadness. I’ve really felt the support when people see me mentally and emotionally struggling. My music has taken me to some really cool places this year and I couldn’t be more grateful!

I still have some more videos from my album “Die Tomorrow” coming! I hope this cover can hold you over until then!

I love to sing, rap, and paint. So that’s what I did.

Thank you for sharing!

New Music Video for “Tank Top Jean Shorts”

BAM! It’s here! You might think this is just some simple song about the clothes I casually wear, but it’s actually more about who I am, what I’ve done, and how I fit in. I like to get hype, I like to get nerdy and artsy, I like to rock out and be lyrical, and I like to be comfortable in my own skin and what I’m wearing. I don’t look like your typical rapper and I think that’s okay. I really don’t give a damn if you don’t like my “jorts” or my “muscle shirt”. Haha! This video was fun to make – it started out as a simple “just rap in front of the camera” kinda promo video but I decided to make it something a little more visually unique to match the energy in the song.

Let me know what you think! Please share!

And if you don’t have the album yet…

A Million and None words…

“Do I have nothing good left to say? Do I need Whiskey to start fuelling my complaints?”
-City and Colour “The Death Of Me”

Writers block is a funny thing. I always try and write regardless of whether it’s “good” or if it’ll ever be “published” or not. But I still consider shitty writing to be writers block. Shitty as in, unoriginal, unimaginative, not from the soul, meaningless, uninspired, etc. I remember the days when I could write numerous (full) songs in a day or less. Granted, some needed editing and some were good where they stood, but as a younger, more angsty, youth I felt compelled to say things regardless of consequence. These days my filter keeps me slightly more reserved. Maybe it’s for the better. Maybe not. Lord knows I don’t need to spout off any more stupid ignorant shit…. and then sometimes I just think it’s me getting distracted from having way more things on my mind.

Currently I have an instrumental that is a work in progress looping on repeat over and over, and I suddenly was reminded of my most recent release “Neck Tie” and realized I hadn’t shared it on my site yet. Ironic because I think my thought process reminded me of it, due to the fact it was the first song I’d completed in about 10 months. and here I sit, stuck again with nothing to say. Or rather, a million things on my mind and no single direction.

I’d love to be able to focus at the moment, but I need to post this video so it’s one thing I can cross off my list of To-Do’s before I pile on 800 more. I really hope you enjoy it. Lots of people have sent me some really amazing messages regarding it, some people say it’s awesome, have purchased it on itunes and tell me it gives them goosebumps…. others say it’s disrespectful to the subject (but hey what goes around comes around?!)

I would love to know what you think, so feel free to leave feedback on the YouTube Comments, share it, and repost it in your blog or Facebook or wherever.

To anyone asking or concerned – No, I’m not gonna hang myself. It’s metaphorical to the subjects last name. Hope you like it! KING DYLAN – NECK TIE (Official Video)
